In this first session of Behold a White Horse, Dr. Chuck Missler explores one of the most misunderstood figures in Bible prophecy: the White Horse Rider of Revelation 6. Far from being Christ, as often misinterpreted, this rider represents the ultimate deceiver—a false messiah who launches the Tribulation period. Missler calls this the second most dangerous case of mistaken identity, right after the world’s misunderstanding of who Jesus truly is.
Mistaken Identity & the Power of Deception
Missler opens by illustrating how both literature and real-life events are filled with examples of mistaken identity. He sets the stage by warning that the rider on the white horse is a masquerade—an imitation of Christ that fools many, even seasoned theologians. He emphasizes John 5:43, where Jesus foretells that another will come in his own name, and people will receive him.
The Structure of Revelation
Revelation is unique in that it outlines itself in three parts (Revelation 1:19):
- What you have seen – Vision of Christ (Chapter 1)
- What is – The letters to the churches (Ch. 2–3)
- What shall be after these things – The prophetic future (Ch. 4–22)
Missler explains the heptadic structure (patterns of sevens) in Revelation: 7 seals, 7 trumpets, and 7 bowls—each followed by a pause or parenthetical section, emphasizing divine order.
Heavenly Perspective: The Throne Room
In Revelation 4–5, John is taken to Heaven and witnesses the throne of God. Around it are 24 elders, whom Missler identifies as the redeemed Church, already in Heaven before the seals are opened. A sealed scroll is presented, and only the Lamb that was slain—Jesus—is worthy to open it, initiating the judgments of the end times.
Unveiling the Four Horsemen
As the first four seals are opened, the famous Four Horsemen appear:
- White Horse – A counterfeit Christ figure bringing false peace.
- Red Horse – Symbolizing war.
- Black Horse – Representing famine and economic hardship.
- Pale Horse – Bringing death and pestilence.
Missler highlights the direct parallel between these horsemen and the warnings Jesus gives in Matthew 24, reinforcing their prophetic significance.
Behold a White Horse Rider: The Coming World Leader
This deceptive figure arrives on a white horse, wearing a stephanos (a victor’s crown, not a king’s diadem) and carrying a bow, which may symbolize a covenant, not warfare. Missler connects this figure to Daniel 9, where a future world leader makes a 7-year covenant with Israel and breaks it halfway through—triggering the Abomination of Desolation, a key sign Jesus warned of.
The Antichrist Profile
Missler outlines dozens of biblical titles for this end-time ruler, including The Beast, The Little Horn, and The Willful King. This man will be an intellectual, political, military, and religious leader. He rises through peace but becomes a global dictator, even surviving a deadly head wound, leading many to worship him. He works in tandem with a False Prophet, forming a satanic counterfeit trinity.
Stay Prepared
Missler urges believers to remain discerning, noting that the world is being prepared to accept this counterfeit Christ. Yet, Christians await the true white horse rider—Jesus Christ, returning in power and glory.
