But in this Pastor Greg Laurie Revelation Bible Study, titled “Revelation Rewind,” he shows that the message is not only understandable but deeply encouraging for believers. Revelation isn’t a riddle to decode—it’s an unveiling of Jesus Christ and God’s redemptive plan.

Revelation: A Book That Reveals, Not Hides

The word “Revelation” literally means “unveiling.” According to Greg, God doesn’t want to confuse us. He wants to prepare us. The book opens with a built-in blessing (Revelation 1:3) and a built-in outline (Revelation 1:19):

  • The things John has seen (chapter 1)
  • The things which are (chapters 2–3)
  • The things which will take place after this (chapters 4–22)

Greg explains that we’re currently in the “things which are” period—the church age—and the events of the future begin after the church is taken to heaven.

Jesus: The Center of Revelation

Revelation is not just about the Antichrist or Armageddon. It’s about Jesus. In chapter 1, we see a vision of Christ in glory: faithful witness, ruler of the kings of the earth, and the One who keeps on loving us (Revelation 1:5).

Greg emphasizes that Jesus is coming again (Revelation 1:7), and that truth is echoed throughout Scripture—500 times total and in 1 out of every 25 verses in the New Testament.

The Seven Churches: History and Warning

In Revelation 2–3, Jesus addresses seven actual churches. These also represent the flow of church history and speak to individual believers today. From Ephesus, which left its first love, to Laodicea, the lukewarm and compromised church, these letters are a mirror for modern Christianity.

The Rapture and Heavenly Scene

In chapter 4, the scene shifts to heaven. The church is removed from earth and John describes worship around God’s throne. In chapter 5, a scroll with seven seals appears, leading into the judgment to come.

The Great Tribulation Unfolds

Chapter 6 introduces the Four Horsemen and kicks off the Great Tribulation—a seven-year period of global chaos, judgment, and spiritual upheaval. Greg points out this time begins when the Antichrist is revealed. He comes as a man of peace but quickly ushers in war, famine, and death (Revelation 6:1–8).

Despite the horror, Greg reminds listeners that believers will be in heaven during this time. God hasn’t appointed us to wrath (1 Thessalonians 5:9).

Jerusalem at the Center of it All

Jerusalem, the city of peace, becomes a focal point of conflict. Prophecies in Zechariah and other passages say it will be a “stone of stumbling” for the world (Zechariah 12:3). A rebuilt temple, engineered by the Antichrist, becomes the stage for the “abomination of desolation” (Matthew 24:15).

Evangelism During the Tribulation

Even during judgment, God is still saving people. Greg outlines several powerful witnesses God uses:

  • 144,000 Jewish evangelists
  • Two witnesses (possibly Moses and Elijah)
  • An angel proclaiming the Gospel

Millions will believe even during these dark days.

Satan’s Final Defeat

Revelation 12 shows a spiritual war in heaven. Satan is cast down and rages on earth knowing his time is short. But believers overcome him:

  1. By the blood of the Lamb
  2. By the word of their testimony
  3. By not loving their lives to the death (Revelation 12:11)

The End: A New Beginning

Revelation closes with the return of Jesus (chapter 19), the Millennial reign (chapter 20), and the creation of a new heaven and earth (chapters 21–22). God’s people live with Him forever.

The book ends with a final invitation: “Whoever desires, let him take the water of life freely” (Revelation 22:17).

Greg Laurie ends with that same invitation. The message of Revelation isn’t fear—it’s hope. The question is: Are you ready?
